Identity v/s Desire

We assume that identity is an image we associate with to finally make it our own. But, it's actually more than that. What we think ourselves to be emerges as our sole individual identity; which can (in all probability) either be true or false. In the end, it's the thought that really counts, as always. You'll find it any book: what you think shapes your mindset to eventually form your environment. But what if we unconsciously harbour only an apparent thought which imperceptibly drives conflict in our lives? Do we unnecessarily make bad things happen to us because of a fabrication?
Most times we adopt an identity for the sake of simplifying an otherwise complicated idea: who are we, and what do we want to do in order to fulfil ourselves? So, we adorn an external 'identity' based on how we build our status; as an employee, a student, or a housewife. That limits one's abilities to only serve a specific purpose which in no way totally makes us up as a complete entity. Then again, you might say that this form of recognition through a definite title helps society to demarcate them on the foundation of 'rank', 'background' and 'class'. These distinctions unknowingly sets implicit expectations on us. We behave in a certain way to conform to the demands which our roles require.
However, we aren't able to continuously maintain regulations all the time. We begin to feel anxious when we might feel that perhaps what our apparent identity is established to be is not our essence. But, for the sake of greater obligatory duties, we end up stuffing that thought in some back-drawer of memory. The desire to change doesn't seem so easy anymore. Who has the time?
Desire is an instinctual will to execute. When it clashes with the performance of identity, conflict is created. How can we solve this? By means of making our desires correspond with what we actually would like to do, it can be decreased. But, what if we face trouble in doing so? What then?
We dwell based on the belief of naturalness. And we can make this a reality in our lives. Instead of propagating an impermanent idea of your present meaning, introspect on what your real purpose is; something which drives your love towards a certain object. When you desire, it means that you are growing to dream. We can experience the joy of being alive!
The present never defines us as individuals. We always evolve for a better future.
