Perspective - For You

Updated: Nov 28, 2021

Anyone would tell you that when the pandemic first sprung from its prolongedly nurtured incubation, it was as if the sky had fallen upon their whole lives and belief system like an infinite sack of bricks. Uncountable daily-wage earners lost their jobs, the global economy and lifestyle underwent a severe depression, and so many homes felt as if they were on the brink of destruction due to financial and familial troubles. Even now, towards the end of its third year, no concrete end is visible. Although Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca are attempting to supply inclusive-oriented vaccines alongside our indigeneous producers, that alone is not the sole solution to totally demolish this virus. It still remains under construction. So, as the third wave of the pandemic seeps into my country; like tea from a tea-bag, the world at large is reeling from the opiate of uncertainty and fear about the future. Does that mean the our lives are over?

Afghanistan is fighting for her freedom from the Taliban. Her people are regretting that they didn't take the opportunity to leave with a passport and Visa when they had it. We know what's going on, but there's nothing which I can begin to say that even comes close to what they are feeling. It's unimaginable, really. I'm not pitying the Afghan people. No. Pity is demeaning to their worth as avengers of their nation, independence and lives. I am sharing SOLIDARITY with them. Anger directed towards right fuels justice. I'm learning from them as to how I can be a true person. And also the fact that they are struggling against death itself with at least a fragment of Hope in their hearts. This knowledge helps us to practise humility and gratefulness for our own sheltered lives. Sure, everyone has their own form of problems - but it never means that they are control and define our lives forever.

We get frightened of long paragraphs, thinking that they are perhaps way out of our league. In the end, it all boils down to the way we take things as they come to us. A friend of mine is worried about her future. She wants to work in fashion, but doesn't know where exactly to go in life at a larger aspect. This is how we get panic attacks and so anxious about the future! We even tend to forget what's happening in THE NOW, right THIS MOMENT. It's natural to get worried about what's going to happen to us, especially during this period. And it's okay. It means that you want to do something worthwhile with your time instead of wasting it. That doesn't necessarily equate to spending all your time getting tensed about it! The more you worry, the more your VISION gets all blurry. Check it out, it even rhymes!

Perspective. That's what I've chosen this time. It's what make us rational and at the same time emotional. A beautiful combination, really. It's not objectivity per se - but it does help us get a clearer understanding about why things are happening and what we can do about it to change ourselves for the better. It's how we structure our thoughts with time and love. Most circumstances of self-hatred and anger act as launching-pads for us to grow as people. They're not and end in itself. From what I've realised all this time, it's that you have to be the one who sets things in their right place. We are our own game-changers. If that was impossible, the world wouldn't be where it is now.

What great thing are you going to do next in your life? It doesn't matter if it's you getting up earlier than you usually do the next morning, or start planning to paint that piece you've always wanted to.

It is always worth more than what you think it to be.
