Courage: a pandemic truth?

It goes without saying that the pandemic has redefined the way we have understood and grown with life. Blessed with individual capacities and a range of unique wealth, we remain nestled in the comforts of our homes amidst a raging thunderstorm. Nevertheless, it doesn't mean that we lack problems of our own. Living entails misfortune, but it never erases joy.

At different points in our lives, frequent instances arise which predominantly test our limits of courage. But, what exactly is it? Throughout history, we have attempted to define it simply: it is the strength to continue till the very end, irrespective of Fear. Although this general meaning is ingrained in our minds, we tend to lose out on its regular application in the smallest of situations. For example, should you dress somewhat differently than you usually do? - but what if others chastise you for the very same? What if they label you to be "odd"? This fear of external assumptions and possible barricades trigger our reservations regarding the future; which again curbs our potential to create change. This pulls us back from embarking on roads less (or even never) travelled; causing us to regret it for the rest of our lives.

Courage is the central trait which branches off to subsidiary features: such as confidence, tenacity and so on. The bravery to begin is greater than the process after, and all the more difficult. But should you stop just for the sake of inevitable problems, when you efficiently solve its various kinds almost everyday? Being accustomed to the skill of straightening out dilemmas, we are beings born to resolve conflict in all aspects!

The price of courage is taking the first step. It always hurts the most. You might have to give up everything to fulfil your target, or painstakingly spend uncountable hours to attain your goal. You might have to be the only one who gracefully makes sense amid a world of sheer madness and discord. Are they worth it? That's for you to answer upon the realisation of your purpose: because it's always where you can find it. From experience, I can tell you - it's all worthy of your labour. The prize of courage is known, like the value of gold. It's indescribable. It's your paradise. The courage you have borne ceaselessly to reach the highest pedestal in your life will continue to take you even further. You are truly gifted - should you choose to use the talents you already bear. Sounds easier said than done? Well, it's never an impossibility; rest assured!

Challenged by the unnerving global upheaval which shows no ending anytime soon, we have come to object to the extent of courage in these trying times: when we lose a loved one, or when everything seems to be falling apart before our eyes. Does that mean that courage is fallible in its transcendental effervescence? Is it hence useless? No! It instead pushes us upwards, more than we have ever needed in our lives! Courage is Hope - to live every day, despite isolation and quarantine. Should we allow negativity to change us, or use that same negativity to change ourselves for the better?

This is our collective Truth, our very own discovery!
